Our Minister, Read Sherman
Read Sherman loves creative worship, singing, eating and laughter as ways to make straight paths to the Lord. Indeed, for Read, the imagination is the true spiritual organ.
Read realized early on that life is the greatest teacher of all; there is an inner spiritual journey to self-acceptance and wholeness that is as critical to one’s path to Christ as is learning about God in the formal sense.
Educated at Yale (B.A., Religious Studies) and at Harvard (M.Div), Read's journey led him to be approved for ordination in the United Church of Christ (USA). But then love intervened! He felt called to follow his life-partner to Alberta and begin ordination process number two in his new United Church of Canada home. Read was ordained in 2003, and he served for nearly 11 years as the settled minister of the Aylwin Pastoral Charge in Low and Kazabazua, QC.
Read lives in the Plateau with his partner Stéphane Lemelin.
