Trinity United Church Sunday School
Our Sunday School is, above all, a caring and warmly-welcoming environment. It helps to lay the foundation for lives lived in fellowship — a wonderfully inspiring word for 'togetherness.' In Sunday School, kids learn that we can live in fellowship with one another whatever our age. We don't have to wait to be an adult!
We are blessed in that many of the youth of Trinity are keen musicians or enjoy acting a role at the drop of a hat. This makes for a very enjoyable pre-Christmas time preparing these events.
Activities are geared according to age: the pre-kindergarten and primary group explores biblical stories and faith themes through storytelling, painting, drawing, and other arts and crafts. The senior class tends towards discussion-based lessons, exploring scripture and current issues and how they relate to our lives as Christians. Before classes meet, the whole Sunday School comes together to sing, celebrate any birthdays and offer prayer. This is also a time when the kids can share anything they might have done in the past week, and when we might offer cookies and other news.
Every September, the Sunday School organizes its Annual Corn Roast for the congregation to celebrate the opening of the school year. Our other annual undertaking — and by far the biggest for the Sunday School — is the Christmas Pageant. Past productions include "A Christmas of Angels," "The Night Before Christmas," and "Where are you Christmas?", a multimedia offering of comic and serious sketches, Bible passages, songs and music.
